A Manhattan high-rise office building looked to replace its 150-watt A21 incandescent lamps in the main elevator lobby with an LED solution, while maintaining the average foot-candle levels on the floor.
The Solais high lumen LR30 lamp, with 1125 lumens at only 16 watts - this actively cooled lamp replacement is the only PAR30 LED lamp capable of upgrading the high-wattage A-lamp on a true 1:1 basis.
By using the LED solution from Solais, building managers were able to save more than 89% of energy costs in their elevator lobby, while increasing the desired average light levels from 24 foot-candles to 29 foot-candles on the floor - increasing performance and quality.
BEFORE SOLAIS SOLUTION
The typical 6-inch recessed housing for an A21 lamp is only 55% to 60% efficient in emitting the light from the fixture. This results in only 1100 of the 1830 total lumens actually exiting the fixture. The high ceiling further hinders the diffused light from reaching the floor below.
AFTER SOLAIS SOLUTION
The directional Solais LR30 is 90% efficient in the recessed housing of this application and successfully increases the average light levels, while using fewer lumens. This is clearly shown above as brighter colors in the Solais solution.
"We loved the color options that were available in the Solais line as well as the flexibility of these fixtures, an important feature to us as we continually move merchandise around to highlight different colors and products."
Kevin Nolen - NastyGal, Director of Retail Development
“We’re very pleased with the Solais product and can’t believe how different it looks against our previous lighting, especially the color rendition. It really performs ahead of our expectations."
Glenn Trunley - TUMI, Senior Director of Global Store Design
“I knew immediately that it was what I’d been looking for. We loved the crisp, clear way that VioLight [fixtures] lit the space, produced a sharper visual and made our product pop."
Amanda Ceja - Fossil, Procurement Manager, Store Design & Development
"The color rendering index of the lighting was very important to the MOST team and the Solais lamps delivered an outstanding light level and color quality."
Larry Leatherman - Museum of Science & Technology, President
"Based on their quality, performance, efficiency, long life, and ability to reduce our maintenance costs, we feel really good about upgrading with Solais’ LED technology.”
Andrew Lindley - Maxstudio, Head of Design, Construction, and Maintenance
